TEC and IIIT Naya Raipur Sign MoU to Drive Innovation in Next-Gen Telecom Technologies.

In a major step toward strengthening India’s role in the global telecommunications ecosystem, the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), the technical arm of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Naya Raipur. The partnership aims to foster joint research, innovation, and standardization in emerging telecom technologies, including 5G, 6G, Open RAN, and IoT.

Advanced research on spectrum sharing mechanisms and coexistence strategies aligned with global discussions, particularly those under the WRC-27 agenda. - 5G, 6G, and IoT Frameworks:
Creation of test environments and research infrastructure to explore future network technologies and enable smooth transition to next-gen telecom. - Standards Development & Global Representation:
Joint contributions to ITU-T Study Groups and TEC’s National Working Groups to shape global telecom standards with an India-first approach. - India-Specific Testing & Interoperability Frameworks:
Design of localized standards and test models that meet India’s diverse digital infrastructure needs and support affordable, inclusive connectivity.
