Himachal Pradesh has achieved a significant milestone in its journey towards digital governance, with a record 22.78 lakh government services delivered through the e-District Portal in 2024. This marks the highest number of services provided in a single year since the launch of the portal and reflects the state government’s commitment to building a transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric digital ecosystem.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, digital governance has become a cornerstone of public administration in the state. The government’s efforts have resulted in exponential growth in the delivery of online services—rising from 14.97 lakh services in 2023 to the record-breaking figure in 2024. Notably, in the current year (2025), over 15 lakh services have already been delivered, with the final count expected to surpass previous records by year-end.

The number of online services available through the e-District Portal has also witnessed a dramatic fourfold increase, climbing from 113 in 2022 to 436 in 2025. This upward trajectory reflects the present government’s unwavering focus on making public services more accessible and user-friendly. In 2023, the portal offered 217 services, which increased to 251 in 2024, before reaching its current tally.

Principal Advisor (IT and Innovation) to the Chief Minister, Gokul Butail, highlighted the transformative impact of digital platforms, stating that these services allow citizens to apply for essential government facilities from anywhere and at any time. “This saves both time and money and is a big step towards inclusive governance. Citizens can also access these services at Lok Mitra Kendras spread across the state,” he said.

Chief Minister Sukhu reiterated his administration’s vision of creating a paperless, presence-less, and cashless governance system. “Departments have been instructed to go fully digital,” he said, citing a successful pilot project in select tehsils of the Revenue Department where property registration is now possible without any physical visits to government offices. This initiative has received highly positive feedback from the public.

He further added that similar digital reforms will be rolled out across other departments to ensure convenient and transparent service delivery for every citizen of Himachal Pradesh.

The remarkable growth in digital service delivery stands as a testament to the state’s robust technological infrastructure and forward-looking governance model, positioning Himachal Pradesh as a leader in e-governance among Indian states.
