The Himachal Pradesh Government, under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has achieved remarkable success in reducing road accidents across the state. Consistent policy initiatives, improved monitoring systems, and widespread public awareness campaigns have led to a significant decline in road mishaps, saving countless precious lives.
According to official data, 2,253 road accidents were reported in 2023, which declined to 2,147 in 2024, and only 1,457 accidents have been recorded so far in 2025. This consistent downward trend reflects the government’s proactive approach to road safety, emphasizing both preventive measures and community participation.
A government spokesperson highlighted that this achievement is especially commendable considering that the state endured severe natural calamities such as landslides, floods, and cloudbursts in 2023 and 2025. Despite these adversities, the government maintained an unwavering focus on ensuring safer roads and transportation systems through coordinated efforts across departments.
“Road safety has remained one of the top priorities of the present government, and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed all departments to take every possible step to minimize accidents,” the spokesperson said. “The government’s goal is not only to bring down the number of accidents but to ensure the safety and protection of every citizen’s life.”
The spokesperson further stated that initiatives such as modernization of road infrastructure, stricter enforcement of traffic laws, driver awareness programs, and enhanced emergency response systems have contributed substantially to these positive outcomes.
With these encouraging results, the Sukhu-led government continues to reaffirm its commitment to building a safe and sustainable transportation environment in Himachal Pradesh — ensuring that progress and protection go hand in hand.
