Axis Bank Steps Forward to Rebuild Lives in Disaster-Hit Mandi: 57 Weather-Resistant Shelters to Be Constructed.
Shimla:
In a significant humanitarian gesture, Axis Bank has extended its support to the disaster-affected Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, pledging to construct 57 weather-resistant shelters under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Axis Bank’s North Zone Head Abhishek Parashar and State Head Varun Sharma met Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at his official residence, Oak Over, on Tuesday to discuss the initiative aimed at rehabilitating families displaced by recent natural calamities, particularly in the Seraj Assembly segment.
The shelters, designed for long-term resilience, will feature heat insulation, PCC flooring, kitchen slabs, and basic electrical fittings — providing safe, dignified, and comfortable living spaces for the affected families. Each unit will be durable and reusable, allowing for deployment in future emergencies to enhance disaster preparedness.
As part of the project, Axis Bank will also install 15 community toilet units, each serving 3 to 6 families. These facilities will include water tanks, stainless steel sinks, and CPVC pipe fittings to ensure adequate sanitation and hygiene in the affected areas.
To ensure seamless implementation, the bank will provide logistical and administrative support, including beneficiary identification, vendor onboarding, supervision, and impact assessment. Special attention will be given to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and persons with disabilities.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed heartfelt gratitude to Axis Bank for its “noble and timely initiative,” noting that such partnerships between the government and private sector play a crucial role in rebuilding communities and restoring livelihoods.
“Efforts like these go a long way in supporting the affected families during this difficult time,” the Chief Minister remarked.
With this initiative, Axis Bank reaffirms its commitment to community welfare and disaster resilience, setting an example of corporate compassion and responsibility in times of crisis.
