Centre Approves Major Development Package for Himachal Pradesh; Projects Worth Over Rs. 300 Crore Get Green Signal.
Shimla:
The Central Government has extended a significant development boost to Himachal Pradesh, approving multiple key infrastructure projects, including Rs. 93.55 crore for special repairs of embankments along sensitive stretches of National Highway-154A. The move is expected to provide major relief to disaster-affected regions and ensure safer, smoother travel routes.
BJP state spokesperson Ajay Rana expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari, stating that the Centre has consistently placed Himachal’s development among its top priorities. He asserted that the Central Government has never withheld support for strengthening the state and continues to work diligently for its overall progress.
Rana criticised Congress leaders for attempting to take undue credit for Central funds, accusing them of misleading the public. He emphasised that the Centre’s continuous efforts are the true driving force behind large-scale development in Himachal.
Major Projects Approved Under CRIF
Ajay Rana announced that three important road and bridge projects have been sanctioned under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), facilitated by the efforts of state leaders and the Central Government. The approved projects include:
- Rs. 137.40 crore for the reconstruction of the Mandi–Gaggal–Chail Chowk–Janjheli Road
- Rs. 48.69 crore for the upgradation of the Jejon Mod–Tahliwal Link Road
- Rs. 28.35 crore for the construction of a 110-metre double-lane motorable bridge between Pirdi and Talogi over the Beas River in Kullu
Special Relief for Disaster-Hit Areas
Rana highlighted that it was due to persistent efforts of the state government and requests made by Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur—who met PM Modi and Minister Gadkari—that these projects were considered under CRIF. Recent natural disasters had severely damaged many road networks, making their restoration essential. With these approvals, affected families are expected to receive significant relief, and the state’s tourism sector will gain renewed momentum.
Gratitude to Central Leadership
Concluding his statement, Ajay Rana extended heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the people of Himachal Pradesh to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nitin Gadkari. He said that with the Central Government’s continued support, the state is achieving new milestones in development and moving steadily towards a stronger future.
