CM attends 350th Shahidi Diwas ceremony at Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today attended a grand religious ceremony at Sri Anandpur Sahib to mark the 350th Shahidi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru revered globally for his unparalleled sacrifice. The event commenced with prayers and devotional recitations, where the Chief Minister paid obeisance at the historic Gurudwara.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji epitomized the spirit of sacrifice, standing firmly for faith, truth and humanity. He emphasized that the Guru laid down his life not merely for Sikhism but in defence of the fundamental rights of people belonging to all religions and sects.
“Guru Tegh Bahadur’s unwavering courage against oppression continues to guide society even today,” CM Sukhu stated. He added that the Guru’s teachings remain a powerful reminder of the values of mutual respect, brotherhood and tolerance, which are essential for sustaining democratic and pluralistic ideals.
Highlighting the contemporary relevance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s legacy, the Chief Minister said that at a time when the world seeks peace, harmony and social justice, the Guru’s life serves as a beacon for unity in diversity. He urged people to draw inspiration from the Guru’s message to build a more compassionate and inclusive society.
The ceremony was attended by MLAs Hardeep Singh Bawa and Vivek Sharma, along with several distinguished guests, devotees and community leaders who paid their respects on this solemn occasion.
