Karishma College, Ner Chowk Mandi Hosts One-Day Workshop on Character Building for Future Teachers.
Shimla:
Karishma College of Education organized a one-day workshop on Character Building, aimed at guiding future teachers toward value-based education and holistic development. The event began with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge.
College Chairman Er. Lalit Pathak welcomed the dignitaries with Himachali tradition by presenting them with the state’s iconic topi and shawl as a mark of respect.
Insightful Session by Jag Ram
The keynote address was delivered by Jag Ram, Regional Coordinator of the Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas. He spoke extensively on the significance of character-building in education and emphasized the wisdom embedded in the ancient Indian education system.
He explained why India was once regarded as the Vishva Guru (world leader) — primarily because education in ancient India was practical, skill-based, spiritual, and character-oriented.
He added that today’s system has shifted, leading India to drift towards a westernized idea of “India” instead of culturally rooted “Bharat.”
“If we aspire to rebuild Bharat,” he stated, “we must reform education and adopt the Indian model of learning once again.”
Distinguished Guests and Attendees
The workshop was graced by several notable personalities, including:
- Suresh Sharma, State Coordinator and Architect
- H.S. Rana, Former HAS Administrative Officer
- Vishal Azad, State Co-coordinator
- Sunil Kumar, State Coordinator for Technical Education
- Gurudev Singh Rana, Coordinator, Shiksha Kendra Mandi
Faculty members from various departments of the college were also present, contributing to an interactive and enriching environment.
The event concluded with a shared resolve to prepare responsible, ethical, and value-driven teachers who can positively influence future generations. Karishma College expressed its commitment to continue organizing such character-building and educational development workshops for the holistic training of upcoming educators.
