The Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony of Senior Secondary School Batheri in the Chohar Valley of Darang assembly constituency in Mandi district was organized with great enthusiasm, presided over by former minister Kaul Singh Thakur, who attended as the chief guest. During the event, he felicitated meritorious students and extended his best wishes for their future endeavors.

Outstanding Academic Achievements

Presenting the comprehensive annual report, School Principal Sanjeev Rana highlighted the remarkable academic performance for the session 2024–2025:

Classes 6 to 8: 100% results

Class 9: 94.87%

Class 10: 79.4%

Classes 11 & 12 (all streams): 100% results

Merit achievers: 7 students in Class 10 and 3 students in Class 12 secured positions in the merit list

CM Tablets: 4 meritorious students were awarded tablets by the Chief Minister

Scholarships: 30 students benefitted from central and state government scholarship schemes

Notable Sports Achievements

The school also excelled in sports at the district level across various age groups:

Under-14 Boys: 3 students selected for district-level competitions in Kabaddi, Volleyball, and Chess

Under-14 Girls: 6 participants competed at district level in Kabaddi, Volleyball, and Badminton

Under-19 Boys: 2 students selected for district-level Volleyball and Badminton

Under-19 Girls: 2 students selected for district-level Kho-Kho and Volleyball competitions

Rs. 25 Lakh Sanction Proposed for Examination Hall

Addressing the gathering, former minister Kaul Singh Thakur praised the efforts of the Himachal Pradesh Education Department, stating that the state has progressed from the 21st to the 5th position in national education rankings.

He announced that Rs. 25 lakh would be secured from the Education Department for the construction of an examination hall at Senior Secondary School Batheri, acknowledging the demand presented by the school principal.

Contribution to Regional Development

Reflecting on his tenure, Kaul Singh Thakur shared that he had established:

11 Senior Secondary Schools,

5 Primary Health Centres, and

3 Veterinary Centres

in the Chohar Valley region.

He also remarked that had he not been defeated in the 2022 Assembly Elections, the pace of development in the region would have been far greater.

The former minister encouraged local residents to approach the Executive Engineers of the Jal Shakti and Public Works Departments, describing them as highly competent officers currently serving in Drang.

Cultural Performances and Token of Appreciation

Students presented a variety of cultural performances to mark the occasion. Appreciating their efforts, Kaul Singh Thakur handed over Rs. 10,000 to the principal as a cash reward for the participating students.

Distinguished Guests and Community Participation

The event witnessed the presence of several notable figures, including Joginder Guleria, Director, HPMC,  Vaman Thakur former president Block Congress Committee Darang, Niviya Kumar Kashyap, Executive Engineer, PWD Rakesh Thakur, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, Dr. Kulkrati, Chandramani Thakur, Former Panchayat Pradhan of Sanwad, Sagar Thakur, Jitender Thakur, Local Panchayat Pradhan, Karam Singh Thakur, Members of the School Management Committee, teachers, parents, and hundreds of local residents. The ceremony concluded with a community feast (Preeti Bhoj) organized for all students, parents, and attendees.
