UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has set out a strong vision for creating a safer future for children and young people across Britain, pledging decisive government action to tackle misogyny, online harms, and unsafe environments in schools and relationships.

Speaking about his priorities as Prime Minister, Starmer said he wants his daughter—and all children—to grow up in a country where they feel safe at school, online, and in their personal relationships. He stressed that this is not only about protecting girls, but also about safeguarding boys from the growing influence of harmful misogynistic content, particularly online.

“Every young girl deserves to feel safe, and every young boy should be protected from damaging influences that distort their understanding of respect and equality,” Starmer said.

The Prime Minister highlighted that his government is already taking steps to address these challenges by backing teachers, confronting misogyny directly, and intervening early when warning signs appear. He emphasised the role of schools in promoting healthy attitudes and the importance of giving educators the tools and authority they need to respond to harmful behaviour.

Starmer also warned about the impact of online misogynists on young men, arguing that unchecked digital spaces can fuel hostility, radicalisation, and abuse. By acting early, he said, the government can prevent harm before it takes root and help steer a generation of boys and young men away from toxic influences.

“We can stop harm before it starts,” Starmer said, adding that early intervention is key to protecting young people and building a society based on respect, equality, and safety.
