District Council Mandi Approves Development Works Worth Rs. 382.50 Crore at Quarterly Review Meeting.

The Quarterly Review Meeting of the District Council Mandi was held on Monday at the Auditorium of Council at Bheuli in Mandi district, under the chairmanship of District Council President Pal Verma. During the meeting, major approvals were granted for development works aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure and improving public services across the district.
Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for the financial year 2025–26, a total of 25,069 development works were approved, involving an estimated expenditure of Rs. 382.50 crore. These works are expected to generate employment opportunities while enhancing rural assets and basic facilities in villages throughout Mandi district.
In addition to this, the District Council accorded post-facto approval to 119 works amounting to Rs. 3.19 crore. The meeting also cleared 33 development works proposed by various line departments, with an estimated cost of around Rs. 1 crore.
Addressing the meeting, District Council President Pal Verma urged officials to ensure that all approved development projects are completed within the stipulated timelines and that the benefits of government schemes reach the general public in a timely and effective manner. Referring to the recent natural disaster that caused extensive damage in Mandi district, he emphasized that relief, restoration, and reconstruction works in the affected areas should be taken up on priority.

The meeting witnessed detailed deliberations on the implementation of ongoing development schemes, progress of projects, and redressal of public grievances. Extensive discussions were held on issues related to key departments including Health and Family Welfare, Public Works Department (PWD), Jal Shakti Department, Rural Development, Electricity, Education, Agriculture, Forest, and Transport.
The Chief Executive Officer and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gursimar Singh, along with District Council Vice President Mukesh Chandel, senior officers, and heads of various departments were present during the meeting. Officers from concerned departments presented updates on the progress made so far and responded to queries raised by the members.
The proceedings of the meeting were conducted by District Panchayat Officer Ankit Dogra. A review of pending proposals from previous meetings was also undertaken, and departments were directed to expedite action on unresolved matters.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to enhance coordination among departments and accelerate development works to ensure sustainable growth and improved quality of life for the people of Mandi district.
