PM Holds Phone Talks with US President Donald Trump on Global Security and Ukraine.

The Prime Minister Keir Starmer today held a telephone conversation with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, focusing on shared security concerns, global conflicts, and the enduring strength of the UK–US relationship.
During the call, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of British and American soldiers who fought side by side in Afghanistan. He recalled the courage of those who laid down their lives in service, emphasizing that their contribution and sacrifice must never be forgotten.
As Ukraine approaches the fourth year of war following Russia’s full-scale invasion, both leaders underscored the urgent need for progress towards a sustainable ceasefire. The Prime Minister reiterated that while diplomatic efforts remain crucial, international partners must continue to provide steadfast support to Ukraine as it defends itself against what he described as President Putin’s barbaric attacks.
The discussion also covered emerging security challenges in the Arctic region. The Prime Minister highlighted that strengthening security and stability in the Arctic remains an absolute priority for his government, given the region’s growing strategic importance.
Both leaders reaffirmed the significance of the UK–US partnership, describing it as a relationship that continues to stand the test of time and remains vital to addressing global challenges.
The Prime Minister and President Trump agreed to remain in close contact and to speak again soon.
