President Murmu Oversees Major Governor Shuffle; RN Ravi to West Bengal, Syed Ata Hasnain to Bihar.
New Delhi:
President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday night approved a wide-ranging reshuffle of gubernatorial posts across India. The key appointments include RN Ravi as the new Governor of West Bengal and Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (retd) as the Governor of Bihar.
Ravi succeeds CV Ananda Bose, who stepped down earlier in the day. The President accepted his resignation, formalizing the leadership transition in the eastern state.
In Tamil Nadu, current Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will temporarily assume gubernatorial duties following Ravi’s transfer, ensuring administrative continuity until a permanent appointment is made.
The reshuffle also affected several union territories. Vinai Kumar Saxena, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, has been appointed Lt Governor of Ladakh, replacing Kavinder Gupta. Gupta has been reassigned as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
This major reshuffle highlights strategic realignments in several key states and union territories, with experienced administrators and former military leaders stepping into pivotal constitutional roles. The new governors are expected to assume their duties immediately.
