Shimla:

11 students from the Diploma in Multipurpose Health Worker (MPHW) program at Abhilashi University have been appointed as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) under the 108 National Ambulance Service, in collaboration with the Medswan Foundation. The selected candidates — Parthiv Gaazta, Yash, Abhay Sharma, Shashi Kumar, Abhishek, Sahil, Rohit Kumar, Anish Chauhan, Priyanshu Sharma, Ishay Kumar, and Aditya Chauhan — will be posted at hospitals across Himachal Pradesh, enhancing emergency response and healthcare services in the state.

This marks another milestone for the university’s MPHW program, as last year 18 students were also selected and are currently serving as EMTs with the 108 Ambulance Service, demonstrating the program’s strong industry relevance and the quality of practical training provided to students.

The Diploma in Multipurpose Health Worker program is a career-focused course designed to produce skilled frontline healthcare professionals. Its curriculum emphasizes primary healthcare, emergency response, first aid, maternal and child health, disease prevention, and essential clinical practices, with extensive practical training and field exposure to prepare students for roles in hospitals, ambulance services, and community health centers.

Congratulating the students, Vice-Chancellor Prof. H.K. Chaudhary praised their dedication and hard work, while appreciating Program Coordinator Sunita Bhalla and the faculty members for their guidance. He emphasized that serving as an EMT with the 108 Ambulance Service is a noble responsibility toward society.

Chancellor Dr. R.K. Abhilashi stated that the achievement reflects both the students’ commitment and the university’s quality of education. Pro-Chancellor Dr. L.K. Abhilashi added that the university continues to focus on skill-based, employment-oriented education, and such appointments highlight its emphasis on practical training and professional excellence.

The university administration, including Dean Academics Dr. Shrikant Shukla, Registrar Dr. Kapil Kapoor, Dr. Narbada Abhilashi (Chairperson, GES), Dr. Promila Abhilashi (Vice President, AES), Secretary Narendra Kumar, and Kunal Sood (Director, IT & Placement), extended their heartfelt congratulations to the students and faculty members for this significant achievement.

This new batch of EMTs is expected to play a critical role in strengthening emergency healthcare services across Himachal Pradesh, ensuring timely medical response and better healthcare outcomes for the community.
