American base jumper found dead in Spiti valley in Himachal.

The serene Spiti Valley of Lahaul and Spiti district witnessed a tragic incident as an American BASE jumper was discovered deceased today, after being reported missing since June 13.
Superintendent of Police Lahaul and Spiti, Mayank Chaudhary, confirmed the demise of 31-year-old Trevor Bokstahlar, an American citizen, who had ventured into the Spiti Valley for an adventurous pursuit.
According to authorities, Bokstahlar was reported missing from Kaza police station on June 13, sparking an immediate search effort spanning the rugged terrain. His rented motorcycle was found abandoned near Tashigang, adding to the mystery of his disappearance.
Utilizing drone technology, the search operation, supported by the Dogra Regiment of the Army, identified a parachute lodged in a ravine between “Kee” and “Tashigang” on June 14, hinting at Bokstahlar’s potential whereabouts given his expertise in BASE jumping. Specialized teams from ITBP and SDRF were swiftly deployed for the challenging rescue mission.
Today, the search concluded tragically with the discovery of Trevor Bokstahlar’s lifeless body in the ravine. The Lahaul and Spiti police have been in constant contact with the American Embassy to ensure proper protocols are followed for the repatriation of his remains to the United States.
Formalities for the repatriation process are currently underway, as authorities work to bring closure to this unfortunate incident in the remote reaches of Spiti Valley.
