CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Honours Women Achievers on International Women’s Day in Nahan.

Marking the celebrations of International Women’s Day, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, honoured several women achievers for their outstanding contributions in various fields during a state-level programme held in Nahan town of Sirmaur district on Saturday.

During the event, the Chief Minister felicitated Priyanka Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Sirmaur, for her commendable efforts in promoting women’s empowerment and effective administration in the district.

He also honoured Kritika Sharma, a resident of village Gattadhar in Sangrah tehsil of Sirmaur district, for successfully scaling Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak. Another achiever, Megha Singh Kanwar from village Pajjhota in Rajgarh, was felicitated for securing the first position in the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Examination–2025.

Awards under Mahila Vikas Protsahan Yojana

Under the Himachal Pradesh Mahila Vikas Protsahan Yojana, the Chief Minister honoured women and organizations for their remarkable work in social and economic empowerment. The awardees included Shanti Jaiswal from Solan district, Nirmala Dhiman from Bilaspur district, Grihini Swayam Swarojgar Sangh from Indora in Kangra district and Nishu Lata from Una district. Each awardee was presented with a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh in recognition of their contributions.

Financial Assistance under Welfare Schemes

On the occasion, financial assistance was distributed to beneficiaries under various welfare schemes of the state government.

Under the Mukhyamantri Sukh Aashray Yojana, Shikha, Simran Kaur, Shiya and Prem Lata received Rs. 60,000 each as marriage assistance. Additionally, Mehboob Hasan and Ravi were provided the second installment of Rs. 1 lakh each for house construction under the same scheme.

Under the Mukhyamantri Shagun Yojana, Santosh Devi, Shila Devi and Nemo Devi were given Rs. 31,000 each.

Under the Vidhva Punarvivah Yojna, Nasifa, Nitesh and Vidha Devi received Rs. 2 lakh each to encourage widow remarriage.

Similarly, Babita, Sunita Devi and Anita Devi were provided Rs. 51,000 each under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadaan Yojana.

Anganwadi Workers Honoured

The Chief Minister also honoured Anganwadi workers from different districts of the state for their dedicated services in community welfare and child development. Each of them was awarded Rs. 5,000. The awardees included Santosh Kumari (Bilaspur), Meena Kumari (Chamba), Kaushalya (Hamirpur), Rekha Rani (Kangra), Sonia Kumari and Rekha Sharma (Kinnaur), Sunita (Lahaul-Spiti), Meenakshi Devi (Mandi), Usha Rathore (Shimla), Kaushalya Devi (Sirmaur), Meeta Ran (Solan), Kusum Devi (Una), Simro Devi (Bilaspur), Beena Devi (Chamba), Kashmiri Devi (Hamirpur), Sumindra Devi (Kangra), Gyan Devi and Kamla Devi (Kinnaur), Asha (Lahaul-Spiti), Bhawana Devi (Mandi), Geeta Ranta (Shimla), Raksha Devi (Sirmaur), Sharda (Solan) and Shama Devi (Una).

Forest Rights Certificates Distributed

During the programme, the Chief Minister also distributed ownership rights certificates to 28 families under the Forest Rights Act, enabling them to secure legal rights over forest land and housing.

CM Appreciates Role of Women

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister lauded the contributions of women across the state and said that their efforts were playing a crucial role in social development and strengthening the process of empowerment in Himachal Pradesh.

He emphasized that the state government remains committed to supporting women through various welfare initiatives and policies aimed at enhancing their participation in education, employment and governance.
