Ex-Servicemen Praise New Manager at CSD Sarkaghat for ESM-Friendly Initiatives.

Shimla:

A delegation of ex-servicemen (ESM) led by Capt Jagdish Verma (Retd.) visited the CSD Canteen in Sarkaghat in Mandi district today and lauded the efforts of the newly appointed Manager, Sub Major Ravinder Kumar Chauhan, for creating a more accessible and ESM-friendly environment.

During the visit, the ESM team interacted with the Manager and canteen staff, appreciating the systematic arrangements made under his leadership. Capt Verma noted that all variants of liquor are now neatly displayed across multiple racks, allowing entitled ex-servicemen and their dependents to access their quotas without difficulty. Previously, the liquor stock was stored in a small, hard-to-reach area, but under the new management, the process has been streamlined to ensure convenience.

The Manager informed the visiting team that he had proposed to higher CSD authorities the acquisition of an additional space adjacent to the canteen, which would allow elderly veterans to access facilities on the ground floor instead of the third floor. Plans are also underway to provide restroom facilities within the canteen campus for visiting ex-servicemen and their families.

Capt Verma praised Sub Major Chauhan’s initiatives, describing them as “unmatchable” and a significant improvement for the welfare of the ESM community. He added that the organization will formally write to higher army authorities to commend the Manager’s efforts and to urge prompt approval of the proposed new facilities, ensuring that veterans and their families receive the support they deserve.

The visit highlighted the ongoing commitment of CSD Sarkaghat to enhance the experience of ex-servicemen and their dependents, and the delegation’s appreciation underscores the positive impact of the new management on the canteen’s operations. Photographs and videos of the visit were documented for reference.

This step marks a notable effort in improving facilities and access for veterans in Himachal Pradesh, reinforcing recognition of their service and dedication to the nation.
