Shimla:
A major step towards improving rural water supply was marked with the formal inauguration of the Jhalwari Lift Drinking Water Scheme in Gram Panchayat Thana under Rohru assembly constituency of Shimla district yesterday. The project has been implemented by the Himachal Pradesh Jal Shakti Department under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme and the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The inauguration was carried out by former CPS and Congress MLA from Rohru, Mohan Lal Brakta, who highlighted the significance of the scheme in addressing long-standing drinking water issues in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Brakta said the scheme will ensure the availability of clean and regular drinking water to residents, significantly improving their quality of life. He noted that access to safe drinking water has been a persistent concern for the local population, and the completion of this project marks a major relief for the community.
The Jhalwari Lift Drinking Water Scheme is expected to benefit several households by providing a reliable water supply, especially during dry seasons when scarcity has traditionally been a challenge.
Local residents welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude to the authorities for prioritizing their needs. The project reflects the government’s continued commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure and ensuring essential services reach every household.
