U.S. Imposes Sanctions on Networks Supporting Iran’s UAV and Missile Programs.

Washington D.C.:

The United States has announced a fresh round of sanctions targeting individuals and entities accused of supporting Iran’s unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and ballistic missile programs, as well as activities linked to the airline Mahan Air. The move underscores Washington’s ongoing efforts to curb Tehran’s military capabilities and disrupt its global procurement networks.

According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, sanctions have been imposed on eight individuals and four entities involved in facilitating the acquisition of sensitive materials and technologies for Iran’s defense programs. Additionally, two aircraft associated with Mahan Air have been designated as blocked property. U.S. officials allege that the airline has previously been used to transport personnel, weapons, equipment, and funds connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The measures are part of a broader initiative known as Operation Epic Fury and align with directives under National Security Presidential Memorandum-2, which focuses on countering Iran’s weapons development programs.

U.S. authorities stated that the sanctions also reinforce the enforcement of international restrictions, including those tied to Iran’s nuclear commitments. Washington maintains that these actions are necessary due to what it describes as Iran’s “significant non-performance” under previous agreements.

The Treasury Department implemented the sanctions under Executive Orders 13382 and 13224, which target weapons proliferation and terrorism support networks. Officials emphasized that the United States will continue to take decisive measures to counter threats posed by Iran and safeguard its national security interests.
