Netanyahu Pushes Digital Overhaul to Streamline Public Services in Israel.
Jerusalem:
Prime Minister convened a high-level meeting at his office to accelerate reforms aimed at improving digital government services and making them more accessible, efficient, and secure for citizens.
The meeting focused on enhancing digital responses across key public service areas, including the realization of rights for reserve soldiers, business licensing procedures, welfare services, planning and construction approvals, and access to medical data.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Brig.-Gen. (Res.) Nati Cohen, Head of the National Digital Directorate; Brig.-Gen. (Res.) Yossi Karadi, Head of the National Cyber Directorate; Brig.-Gen. (Res.) Erez Eskel, Head of the National AI Directorate; and Doron Cohen, the incoming Civil Service Commissioner.
During the discussion, Prime Minister Netanyahu directed the National Digital Directorate to immediately formulate and present a comprehensive action plan in coordination with the country’s artificial intelligence and cyber agencies. The proposed framework is expected to enable full data synchronization across government ministries, allowing seamless information sharing and improved public access to services.
Officials emphasized that the initiative will prioritize both efficiency and security, ensuring that sensitive citizen data is protected while being made readily accessible where needed.
Addressing the meeting, Netanyahu underscored Israel’s position as a global leader in technology and innovation. He stated that the country must extend this leadership to public administration by embracing the digital revolution.
“Israel is a global technological power and must also be at the forefront of making government services accessible to citizens through the digital revolution,” Netanyahu said. “This will be done quickly, prudently, and with as little regulation and bureaucracy as possible.”
The move signals a broader effort by the Israeli government to modernize its administrative systems, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and leverage advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity infrastructure to better serve its population.
The development comes amid increasing global emphasis on digital governance, with many nations investing in integrated platforms to simplify citizen-government interactions while maintaining robust data protection standards.
