Batheri Panchayat Urges Mandi Administration to Halt Patwari’s Transfer Ahead of IRDP Selection Process.

Shimla:

Ahead of the proposed Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP) selection process scheduled for July 5, the Gram Panchayat of Batheri in Mandi district has urged the district administration to temporarily suspend the transfer of Patwari Sanjeev Thakur, citing public interest and the smooth conduct of revenue-related services.

A delegation from the panchayat submitted a formal proposal to the Deputy Commissioner of Mandi, requesting reconsideration of the transfer order. The delegation argued that transferring the Patwari at this crucial stage could adversely affect the issuance of essential revenue documents required for the upcoming IRDP beneficiary selection.

Taking note of the matter, the Deputy Commissioner marked the proposal for immediate consideration and directed the concerned officials to take appropriate action. The delegation later met the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) with the marked copy of the proposal. The ADM assured the representatives that the matter would be examined and necessary action would be taken at the earliest.

The delegation included Subhash Thakur, who recently contested the Zila Parishad election from the Batheri ward in Chuhar Valley and is also the President of the Mandi Press Club. He was accompanied by Batheri Gram Panchayat Pradhan Lekh Raj, Deputy Pradhan Tilak Raj Sharma, and ward members Dimpal, Sharda, Mangal Chand, Shakuntala, Nanak Chand, and Puran Chand.

In its proposal, the Panchayat stated that Patwari Sanjeev Thakur has earned the confidence of local residents through his efficient, transparent, and timely delivery of revenue services. According to the representatives, under his tenure, revenue-related matters have been resolved promptly, sparing residents from unnecessary delays and administrative difficulties.

The Panchayat further stated that several important revenue-related works are currently pending in the area and that residents continue to require income, domicile, land ownership, and other official certificates on a regular basis. The representatives expressed concern that if the transfer takes effect immediately, the functioning of the Patwar Circle could be disrupted, causing inconvenience to the public and delaying government services.

The delegation also highlighted the urgency of the issue in light of the IRDP selection process scheduled for July 5. They pointed out that eligible families must submit valid income, residence, land, and other required certificates to participate in the selection process. With only a few days remaining, any disruption in the functioning of the revenue office could prevent deserving families from obtaining the necessary documents on time.

The Panchayat warned that such delays may result in eligible beneficiaries being excluded from the IRDP selection process, defeating the objective of providing assistance to economically weaker families.

The delegation appealed to the district administration to reconsider the transfer order in view of public interest and administrative necessity. It requested that Patwari Sanjeev Thakur be allowed to continue serving in the Batheri Patwar Circle until the completion of the IRDP selection process, ensuring uninterrupted public services and the timely issuance of essential documents to eligible residents.
