State government decides to implement New Education Policy in a hurry to get funds from the Central Government, says Dr. BK Saklani, president of HGCTA.

Shimla:

Dr. BK Saklani, president of Himachal Pradesh Government College Teachers Association (HGCTA) said that the State government has, decided to implement New Education Policy in a hurry to get funds from the Central Government.

Expressing apprehensions regarding the implementation of the new education policy from the coming academic session by the state government, Dr. Saklani said that the implementation of the new education policy have been announced by the state government without taking the college teachers into confidence. It will have an adverse effect on the education system of the state and the future generations.

“Our association believes that there is still a huge lack of infrastructure in the colleges of the state. Till now, about 600 posts of professors and 40 posts of college principals are lying vacant in Himachal. On the other hand, there is a severe shortage of necessary buildings and other basic modern facilities in educational institutions. Whereas once the new education policy is implemented, there is a great need for more teachers, non-teaching staff, building expansion and expansion of other basic modern facilities” she said.

“Without making necessary changes in the basic structure of educational institutions as per the requirement of the new education policy, the state government has took this decision in a hurry to get funds from the central government” she remarked.

“The government’s efforts in this area are not only inadequate but negligible. In this context, till now neither the curriculum nor related text books have been made available by the universities of the state nor has proper training been provided to the professors” she said.

“The result of implementing the new education policy without the necessary training, curriculum, textbooks and infrastructure will be exactly the same as the previously implemented RUSA policy”,said Dr. Saklani.

Dr. Saklani was accompained by HGCTA unit president Dr. Seema, media in-charge Dr. Hoshiar Singh, former HGCTA State Vice President Dr. Om Prakash Thakur, Dr. Chaman Premi, Unit Vice President Dr. Raj Kumar, Staff President Dr. Raj Kumar, Dr. Suman Bhardwaj, Dr. Madhavi Joshi, Dr. Vandana Chauhan. , Dr. Neetu, Prof. Naresh and Prof. Anuj Kumar.
