PM Modi Launches Rs. 14,700-Crore Development Projects in Haryana, Flags Off India’s First Hydrogen Train.

Jind (Haryana):

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation multiple development projects worth around Rs. 14,700 crore in Haryana’s Jind district, unveiling a series of major initiatives in railways, healthcare, highways, sports, and cultural heritage. The highlight of the event was the launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered train, which the Prime Minister described as a historic milestone in the country’s journey towards green transportation and technological self-reliance.

Addressing a large public gathering, Modi said that Jind and Haryana had permanently secured a place in India’s history with the launch of the country’s first hydrogen train. Drawing a comparison with the historic first railway journey between Bombay and Thane, he remarked that future generations would remember the Jind-Sonipat route as the birthplace of India’s hydrogen rail technology.

India Enters Hydrogen Rail Era

Calling the hydrogen-powered train a symbol of India’s technological advancement, Modi said the train is completely emission-free and represents the success of the Make in India initiative.

He highlighted that while hydrogen train technology became operational globally only seven to eight years ago and remains limited to a handful of countries, India has introduced what he described as the world’s most powerful hydrogen train.

According to the Prime Minister, the train has a 3,200-horsepower engine and consists of ten coaches, unlike similar hydrogen trains operating in other countries that generally have only three or four coaches.

“India has successfully demonstrated its capability by running a hydrogen train with ten full coaches from the very beginning,” he said.

He added that the train has been completely designed and manufactured by Indian engineers and companies, making it a significant achievement under the government’s push for indigenous manufacturing.

The hydrogen-powered service will initially operate on the 90-kilometre Jind-Sonipat route.

New Infrastructure to Create Jobs

The Prime Minister said hydrogen rail technology requires dedicated infrastructure, including specialized support facilities and manufacturing units. As these facilities are developed, they are expected to generate substantial employment opportunities, particularly for the youth of Haryana.

He described hydrogen technology as the future of railway transportation, noting that Indian Railways has taken a major step into next-generation mobility.

Rs. 14,700-Crore Development Package

The projects inaugurated and launched by the Prime Minister cover multiple sectors, including railways, roads, healthcare and cultural heritage.

Among the major healthcare projects are:

Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Medical College in Bhiwani.

Maharishi Chyavan Medical College.

Rao Tularam Hospital in Narnaul.

Modi said these institutions would strengthen healthcare services while creating more opportunities for aspiring medical students in Haryana.

Major Road Connectivity Projects

The Prime Minister also inaugurated several highway projects aimed at improving connectivity across the state, including:

Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway section.

Jind-Gohana National Highway.

Ambala-Kala Amb four-lane highway.

He noted that Jind is now connected through five national highways, which would significantly reduce transportation costs for farmers and livestock owners while boosting industrial growth, tourism and employment.

Rail Electrification Helped India During Global Fuel Crisis

Speaking on India’s railway transformation over the past twelve years, Modi said nearly 99 percent of the country’s railway network has now been electrified, compared to only around 30 percent before 2014.

Referring to disruptions in global fuel supply caused by ongoing tensions in West Asia, he said India’s extensive railway electrification ensured uninterrupted train operations despite challenges affecting international oil supplies.

He said complete electrification has reduced dependence on diesel and improved energy security for Indian Railways.

Cleanliness Drive Appreciated

Before beginning his speech, Modi praised residents of Jind for welcoming him through the “Swachhta Se Swagat” initiative.

He appreciated citizens for actively participating in cleanliness campaigns and urged people to make sanitation a permanent part of daily life rather than limiting it to special occasions.

Sports Development and 2036 Olympics

The Prime Minister also focused extensively on sports development.

He said the Union government has introduced a new National Sports Policy, known as the Khelo Bharat Policy, while schemes such as Khelo India and the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) are providing athletes with better facilities and financial assistance than ever before.

Modi revealed that discussions during his recent visits to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand included cooperation in sports infrastructure, athlete training and sports industries.

Addressing young athletes, he announced that India is making full preparations to host the 2036 Olympic Games, while also preparing for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and the World Police and Fire Games in Ahmedabad.

He urged athletes from Haryana, known for producing numerous Olympic medalists, to dedicate themselves fully to training and assured them of complete government support.

Transparent Governance

The Prime Minister praised the Haryana government for implementing transparent recruitment systems based on merit and free from corruption or nepotism.

He said the state’s development model reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and good governance.

Support for Farmers

Highlighting the government’s focus on agriculture, Modi said Haryana farmers have received nearly ₹8,000 crore under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

Of this, he said farmers in Jind district alone have received over ₹600 crore through direct benefit transfers.

He stated that improved road infrastructure and market connectivity would further increase farmers’ incomes by making transportation easier and more affordable.

Sikh Museum in Kurukshetra

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for a new Sikh Museum in Kurukshetra.

He said the museum would preserve and showcase India’s rich Sikh heritage and Guru traditions for future generations while strengthening cultural awareness.

Haryana’s Role in Viksit Bharat

Concluding his address, Modi described Haryana as one of the country’s fastest-growing states, driven by both agriculture and industry.

He expressed confidence that the newly launched projects would accelerate the state’s economic growth and contribute significantly to India’s vision of becoming a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

The Prime Minister said the combination of modern infrastructure, clean technology, improved healthcare, sports development and cultural preservation would strengthen Haryana’s role in the nation’s overall progress.
