The NCC Air Wing of Vallabh Government College (VGC), Mandi has brought immense pride to the institution by securing the prestigious title of “Best Overall College Champion” at the Annual Training Camp (ATC)-223, organized by the Himachal Pradesh Air Squadron NCC.

The cadets of the NCC Air Wing demonstrated exceptional excellence in discipline, military training, sports, cultural activities, and leadership, outperforming all participating colleges and institutions across the state. The college secured first position with 73 points, winning an impressive 18 Gold Medals, 9 Silver Medals, and three prestigious championship trophies.

Major Trophies Won

Under the dynamic leadership and guidance of Associate NCC Officer and Flying Officer Dr. Chaman Lal Kranti Singh, the NCC Air Wing, VGC Mandi, achieved remarkable success by winning:

– Best Overall College Champion Trophy

– Drill Competition (College) Winner Trophy

– Discipline (College) Winner Trophy

These achievements have established a new benchmark for excellence at the state level.

About the Annual Training Camp

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman Lal Kranti Singh informed that the Annual Training Camp (ATC)-223 was conducted from July 4 to July 14, 2026, at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur, under the able command of Camp Commandant Wing Commander Kunal Sharma.

The camp witnessed the participation of nearly 600 NCC cadets from 19 educational institutions across Himachal Pradesh.

In the Senior Division, participating institutions included:

– Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mandi

– National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur

– Government College, Kullu

– Vallabh Government College, Mandi

The Junior Division comprised NCC Air Wing cadets from 15 educational institutions across the state.

Presentation of Championship Trophies

Following their outstanding performance, the NCC Air Wing cadets, led by Flying Officer Dr. Chaman Lal Kranti Singh, presented the Overall Champion Trophy, Best Drill Trophy, and Best Discipline Trophy to the Principal of Vallabh Government College, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar.

Congratulating the cadets, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar stated that under the inspiring leadership of Flying Officer Dr. Chaman Lal Kranti Singh, the NCC Air Wing cadets have demonstrated exemplary dedication, discipline, teamwork, and commitment, bringing laurels to the college at both the state and national levels.

He further highlighted that under Dr. Chaman’s mentorship over the past decade, more than 13 NCC Air Wing cadets have been commissioned as Flying Officers in the Indian Air Force and as Lieutenants in the Indian Armed Forces. Hundreds of cadets have joined the Indian Army as General Duty personnel, while 29 NCC cadets have recently been recruited as Agniveers.

The Principal also noted that NCC cadets from the college have represented India in prestigious Youth Exchange Programmes in Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Russia, and the India-Bhutan Camp. Furthermore, 11 NCC Air Wing cadets participated in the Republic Day Camp (RDC), New Delhi, between 2018 and 2026, reflecting the institution’s sustained excellence.
