Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Japanese Defence Minister Mr. Kihara Minoru Discuss Enhanced Bilateral Cooperation.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Japan’s Minister of Defense, Mr. Kihara Minoru, held a significant bilateral meeting today in New Delhi, coinciding with the India-Japan 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue. The discussions focused on reviewing current defense cooperation and exploring avenues for deepening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
During the meeting, both ministers reiterated their commitment to bolstering the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership. They underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and contributing to regional stability and peace.
The ministers expressed satisfaction with the increasing frequency and diversity of defense exercises and exchanges between India and Japan. They pledged to expand the scope and complexity of these engagements and to enhance cooperation in defense equipment and technology sectors.
Rajnath Singh emphasized India’s vision of achieving a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, marking 100 years of independence. He highlighted that advancing domestic defense capabilities is crucial to this vision and noted that collaboration with Japan in defense technology and industry would play a pivotal role.
Both ministers agreed to collaborate on formulating a strategic vision for their partnership, aiming to achieve the shared objectives and fortify the defense relationship in the years leading up to India’s centenary of independence.
