PM Modi recalls courage of Partition-affected people on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, calls for harmony and solidarity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid heartfelt tributes to all those who suffered during the Partition of India, saying that Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is an occasion to remember the immense suffering endured by millions as well as the extraordinary courage with which they rebuilt their lives.
Marking Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, observed on August 14, the Prime Minister said Partition was a deeply painful chapter in history that tore apart countless lives. Families were uprooted, loved ones were separated or lost, and people were forced to endure immense hardship and suffering.
At the same time, he highlighted the resilience of those who, after emerging from the traumatic period, rebuilt their lives from nothing and went on to make significant contributions to the progress and development of the country.
“Their life journeys remind us of the strength of the human spirit,” the Prime Minister said, emphasizing that the courage and determination demonstrated by Partition-affected people remain an inspiration.
PM calls for harmony and brotherhood
Prime Minister Modi said the remembrance of the tragedies of Partition should strengthen the country’s resolve to preserve harmony, brotherhood and national unity.
He expressed hope that the day would encourage citizens to collectively work towards building a Viksit Bharat and further strengthen the spirit of goodwill and solidarity across society.
In a Hindi post, the Prime Minister paid homage to those who, despite passing through the horrors of Partition, contributed immensely to the nation’s progress.
He said their courage and capability demonstrated that even under the most adverse circumstances, determined individuals can achieve their goals.
“Let us further strengthen the national spirit of goodwill and solidarity,” the Prime Minister said.
Sanskrit Subhashitam highlights importance of human effort
Alongside his message on Partition Remembrance Day, Prime Minister Modi shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam emphasizing the importance of hard work, enterprise, perseverance and human endeavour.
The Prime Minister explained that diverse forms of art, scientific knowledge, technological skills, craftsmanship and innovations flourish through enterprise and dedicated effort, ultimately creating the conditions for success.
He stressed that people should not simply depend on fate or wait for circumstances to determine their future. Instead, they should move steadily towards their goals with courage, diligence and persistent effort.
The message, he said, underlines the principle that human endeavour plays a decisive role in shaping destiny.
Remembering resilience amid tragedy
The Prime Minister’s message placed particular emphasis on the lives of people who experienced displacement, loss and uncertainty during Partition but subsequently rebuilt themselves and contributed to India’s social and economic development.
He said their experiences demonstrate how courage, capability and determination can help people overcome even extremely difficult circumstances.
The observance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, therefore, serves not only as a remembrance of the suffering caused by Partition but also as a reminder of the resilience and strength shown by those who endured it.
Prime Minister Modi called upon citizens to draw inspiration from that spirit of resilience while working to strengthen unity, goodwill and solidarity in the country.
