Congress Workers Remember Rajiv Gandhi on Birth Anniversary in Mandi.
Shimla:
The Sadar Block Congress Committee organised a meeting at Gandhi Bhawan, Mandi, on Thursday to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi.
The meeting was chaired by Sadar Block Congress Committee president Hemraj Thakur. Congress workers paid floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi and remembered his contribution to the development of the country.

Speakers highlighted his role in taking India towards the 21st century through advances in information technology and telecommunications. They also recalled his decision to reduce the voting age to 18 years and his efforts to strengthen Panchayati Raj institutions. His contribution towards providing reservation for women in Panchayati Raj and urban local bodies was also highlighted.
The speakers described Rajiv Gandhi as a soft-spoken, disciplined and approachable leader and remembered his contribution to the IT and telecommunications sectors, as well as the establishment and development of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.

Several Congress leaders and workers attended the programme, including Anil Sen, Karam Chand Bhatia, Bhup Singh Thakur, Ram Lal Sharma, Prakash Kashyap, Tek Singh, Mahesh Kumar, Pradeep Sharma, Kehar Singh, Sushma Kumari, Nanda Devi, Upender Sharma, Sanjay Kumar and others.
