MLA Inder Singh Gandhi Demands Restoration of Rewalsar Police Station in Mandi.

Balh MLA Inder Singh Gandhi has urged the Himachal Pradesh government to restore the police station at Rewalsar under Balh assembly constituency of Mandi district, citing the security needs of nearly 25 panchayats in the area.
Raising the issue in the Vidhan Sabha session in Shimla, Gandhi said the police station had been opened during the tenure of former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur but was later denotified by the present Congress government. He said the decision had adversely affected police services and public safety in the region.
Gandhi highlighted Rewalsar’s religious, cultural and tourism significance, saying the area attracts a large number of devotees and tourists throughout the year. He maintained that the presence of a dedicated police station was essential for maintaining law and order and providing timely assistance to residents and visitors.
He also pointed to concerns over rising crime and drug-related activities, arguing that restoration of the police station would strengthen policing and help address such issues effectively.
“The safety of the people cannot be compromised,” Gandhi said, adding that restoring the Rewalsar police station was a public demand and not merely a political issue.
The MLA also criticised some local Congress leaders, alleging that they were more focused on political statements than addressing development and public-interest concerns in Balh.
