Mandi Residents Protest Removal of Key Bus Stops at Seri Manch and Sakodi bridge, Demand Immediate Restoration.

Shimla:

Residents of Mandi have expressed their frustration through a large-scale protest demanding the reinstatement of bus stops at Seri Manch and Sakodi Bridge, key locations under the Mandi Municipal Corporation. The protest, organized by the Panna Lal Raksha memorial charitable Trust, was driven by the significant inconvenience caused by the recent removal of these bus stops.

Rajesh Kapoor, the chairman of the Trust, addressed the demonstrators, highlighting the severe impact on local commuters. The removed bus stops were essential for easy access to town, and their absence now forces passengers to disembark at inconvenient locations. This has led to inflated fares from auto rickshaw drivers, further straining the finances of residents.

Following the demonstration, Kapoor and other protesters met with the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police to present a formal request for the restoration of the bus stops. They emphasized the urgency of the matter, warning that if the issue is not resolved quickly, the Trust is prepared to escalate their protest efforts.

The protest reflects the growing dissatisfaction among Mandi’s residents, who are heavily dependent on public transportation. The community is now waiting for a response from the authorities to address and resolve the ongoing transportation issues.
