Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu celebrated Diwali with the ‘Children of the State’ at Balika Ashram, Mashobra, on Saturday, sharing festive moments with the children and assuring them of continued support from the state government for their welfare, education and overall development.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister interacted with the children, joined them in bursting crackers and distributed sweets, fruits and crackers among them. The celebrations brought festive cheer to the children, who also presented a cultural programme in his honour.

Addressing the gathering, Sukhu said that all ‘Children of the State’ were members of his own family, which was why he frequently visited child care institutions across Himachal Pradesh. He said these visits helped him understand the concerns, requirements and challenges faced by children and take appropriate steps to address them through government welfare initiatives.

The Chief Minister assured the children that the state government had adequate financial resources to ensure their well-being and secure their future. He said the government was bearing their educational expenses and extending financial assistance to help them become self-reliant.

He added that financial support was also being provided to eligible children for constructing houses and meeting marriage-related expenses, enabling them to lead independent and dignified lives.

Rs 20 Crore Released for Hostel Construction

Highlighting the government’s efforts to improve facilities in child care institutions, Sukhu said the state government was committed to providing better residential infrastructure and a secure environment for children living in these institutions.

He informed that Rs 20 crore had been released for the construction of hostels in child care institutions across the state. The initiative aims to provide improved accommodation and better living facilities to children residing in these institutions.

The Chief Minister said that after being recognised as ‘Children of the State’, the government had assumed the responsibility of fulfilling the roles of both mother and father for them. He emphasised that several initiatives were being implemented to ensure their protection, education, security and overall development.

CM Urges Children to Work Hard and Become Responsible Citizens

Encouraging the children to focus on education and personal development, Sukhu urged them to study diligently, imbibe good values and work hard to achieve their goals. He encouraged them to become responsible citizens and bring laurels to Himachal Pradesh through their achievements.

He assured them that the government would continue to look after their needs and provide every possible assistance to help them build a bright future. He also said that he personally monitored their welfare and the facilities being provided to them.

The Chief Minister’s Diwali visit reflected the state government’s emphasis on ensuring care, protection and opportunities for children living in child care institutions, while making them feel included in the larger social and family framework.

Principal Advisor (Media) to the Chief Minister Naresh Chauhan, Advocate General Anup Rattan, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
