Andhra Pradesh Gets 3 Lakh Houses Worth Rs. 3600 Crore; First 3D Concrete-Printed Housing Project Launched.

Guntur/New Delhi:

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday handed over the first instalment of 3 lakh houses worth Rs. 3600 crore to Andhra Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0.

At an event held at Burripalem village in Guntur district in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chouhan also laid the foundation stone for the country’s first pilot housing project based on 3D concrete-printing technology. The project will comprise 177 houses at a cost of Rs. 14 crore.

The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Andhra Pradesh Ministers Nadendla Manohar, Kolusu Parthasarathy and Kandula Durgesh, BJP state president P.V.N. Madhav, Rajya Sabha MP Bhashyam Ramakrishna, MP Lingamneni Ramesh, MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad, Housing Corporation Chairman Bathula Tataiah Babu, senior officials from the Centre and state government, farmers, rural residents and women.

Addressing the gathering, Chouhan said the Central and Andhra Pradesh governments, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, were working together to accelerate development across the state.

He said Andhra Pradesh had the potential to become one of the leading states in the country through coordinated efforts in housing, agriculture, infrastructure, technology and rural development.

Housing allocation increased from 76,000 to 3 lakh

Chouhan said the initial allocation proposed for Andhra Pradesh under the rural housing scheme was only 76,000 houses. However, following Naidu’s request to provide every poor family in the state with a permanent home, the Centre increased the allocation to 3 lakh houses.

He said Naidu had also sought another 6 lakh houses and assured the Chief Minister of continued Central support.

Chouhan said the government would consider another 3 lakh houses after completion of the current allocation, followed by a further 3 lakh houses, with the objective of ensuring that every poor family in Andhra Pradesh has a permanent house.

3D concrete printing to build 177 houses

The pilot housing project at Burripalem and Obulnayudupalem is aimed at introducing modern construction technology into rural housing.

According to Chouhan, the Rs. 14-crore project will use advanced machinery and 3D concrete-printing technology to construct 177 houses within six months.

The technology is expected to reduce construction time, labour requirements and costs while providing durable houses with a longer lifespan than conventional structures.

Centre highlights support for Amaravati and Polavaram

Chouhan also highlighted Central support for Andhra Pradesh’s major infrastructure projects.

Referring to the state’s situation after its bifurcation in 2014, he said the Modi government had supported the development of Amaravati as the permanent capital and extended Rs. 15,000 crore in special financial assistance for its development.

He also spoke about the Polavaram irrigation project, describing it as vital for the state’s development. He said the project was now progressing with 100 per cent grant assistance from the Centre.

Chouhan further said the proposed Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport would improve connectivity and contribute to the state’s economic growth.

Focus on farmers and women

Chouhan highlighted measures aimed at increasing farmers’ incomes in Andhra Pradesh.

He said farmers receive Rs. 6,000 annually under PM-KISAN, while the Andhra Pradesh government’s Annadata Sukhibhava scheme provides an additional Rs. 14,000. Together, the two schemes would provide eligible farmers with Rs. 20,000 annually, he said.

He also said Andhra Pradesh had significant potential to emerge as a major horticulture hub, particularly in fruits, flowers, vegetables and medicinal crops.

On women’s economic empowerment, Chouhan said 23 lakh women in Andhra Pradesh had already become Lakhpati Didis through self-help groups. The government aims to increase the number to 60 lakh, he said.

Chouhan also announced that the national Saras Mela would be organised in Andhra Pradesh on October 15. It will be the first time the event is being held outside Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to inaugurate the event, which will provide women-led self-help groups with an opportunity to showcase their products and expand market access.

Chouhan addresses gathering in Telugu

Chouhan began his address with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Sri Venkateswara Bhagwan Ki Jai” and greeted the people in Telugu.

Praising Andhra Pradesh’s cultural heritage, knowledge, scientific achievements and talent, he spoke about the contribution of the Telugu language and the state’s historical and cultural legacy.

In an informal reference to his popular political image in Madhya Pradesh, Chouhan said, “If I am the Mama of Madhya Pradesh, I am also the Mama of Andhra Pradesh.” He said serving people was a form of worship and praised the enthusiasm and participation of the people at the event.

Chouhan praises Pemmasani and Naidu

Chouhan expressed satisfaction at visiting Burripalem, the ancestral village of Union Minister of State Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani.

He praised Pemmasani for maintaining a strong connection with people at the grassroots and for his commitment to public service. Chouhan said Pemmasani’s understanding of rural issues and his involvement with people had impressed him.

Praising Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Chouhan described him as a dynamic and decisive leader and credited him with helping establish Andhra Pradesh as a major information technology hub.

He said Naidu’s vision was now focused on developing Amaravati as a centre for artificial intelligence, quantum technology, data centres and advanced manufacturing.

Naidu thanks Centre for increasing housing allocation

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu thanked Chouhan and the Central government for increasing the housing allocation for Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu said Chouhan had responded positively when the state sought additional houses for poor families, raising the allocation from around 75,000 to 3 lakh houses.

He said the NDA government was committed to providing permanent homes to poor families and stated that Andhra Pradesh required a total of 9 lakh houses.

Naidu expressed confidence that the remaining 6 lakh houses would also be sanctioned by the Centre after completion of the first phase.

He said the state was poised for further development in infrastructure, agriculture, advanced technology and rural development with the support of the Central government.

The launch of the housing programme and the 3D concrete-printing pilot project marks a significant push towards expanding rural housing in Andhra Pradesh while introducing modern construction technologies into the sector. If you want, I can also make this more newspaper-style with a sharper headline, subheadline, dateline and shorter paragraphs for publication.
