Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Inspects Flood-Affected Areas in Telangana, Reaffirms Central Support.

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, conducted an inspection of flood-affected regions in Telangana today. He met with local farmers and residents, discussing the significant challenges they face due to the recent floods.

During the visit, Chouhan expressed deep empathy for the affected farmers, recalling that Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent him to understand their hardships. Chouhan assured them, “You have lost your crops, but he will not let you lose your life.”

Chouhan praised Prime Minister Modi’s sensitivity towards the flood situation and highlighted Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s proactive measures. He emphasized that under Naidu’s leadership, the state government is addressing the crisis with full capability and sensitivity, and the central government is committed to providing comprehensive support.

Currently, immediate assistance from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) amounting to Rs 3,448 crore is being allocated to the state, including the Centre’s share. Chouhan assured that efforts are underway to assess crop damage, provide compensation, and ensure farmers receive necessary resources like fertilizers and seeds for future crops.

Chouhan’s visit included aerial surveys of affected areas and direct interactions with farmers, where he offered reassurance and support. He emphasized that despite the unprecedented nature of the crisis, the Central Government is determined to work with the State Government to restore normalcy and aid in the recovery of the agricultural sector.
