Shimla:
The Bharat Scout and Guide Association is hosting a five-day camp at the PM Shri Model Senior Secondary School in Sarkaghat of Mandi district from September 26 to 30. Approximately 250 scouts and guides from four tehsils—Sarkaghat, Sandhol, Dharampur, and Baldwara—are participating in this event.
The camp’s activities include training in first aid, tent pitching, cooking without utensils, and nature observation. Daily schedules start at 6:00 AM with exercises, followed by breakfast, inspections, and flag ceremonies. Participants will work towards achieving their first, second, and third place certifications, with tests conducted at the end of the camp. Those qualifying for the third place will receive certificates that hold value in future interviews.
The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Panna Lal, with key organizers including Deputy Director of Higher Education Mandi, Sushil Kumar Sharma, and Principal of PM Shri GMSSS Sarkaghat, Suresh Kumar Pathania. The organizing committee also includes Devkinandan and Kamli Devi from the Women’s District Training Committee.
Teachers and staff from the school, including Sanjay Kumar, Anil Kumar, Banita Kumari, and Rekha Kumari, along with faculty members Bharat Bhushan, Anupam Sharma, and Vijay Kumar, are supporting the camp activities. This initiative aims to enhance skills and teamwork among the youth while promoting outdoor education and environmental awareness.
