MLA Rakesh Jamwal Distributes Life-Assisting Devices in Sundernagar on International Day of Older Persons.

On the occasion of International Day of Older Persons, MLA Rakesh Jamwal attended a program organized by the Mahatma Gandhi Integrated Regional Skill Development Rehabilitation and Empowerment Center for Persons with Disabilities in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Divyasha Center (ALIMCO). The event, part of the Service and Cleanliness Fortnight celebrated on Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, featured the distribution of daily living assistive devices valued at Rs. 13.50 lakh to approximately 200 beneficiaries.
Addressing the gathering, Jamwal emphasized the Modi government’s commitment to uplift the underprivileged and fight poverty, aligning with the philosophy of Antyodaya. He highlighted the government’s continuous efforts over the past decade to ensure that welfare schemes reach the poorest sections of society.
The MLA also noted the government’s groundbreaking initiatives in the health sector, including the increase in the number of AIIMS institutions and the extension of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which now provides health coverage for seniors over 70 years of age.
Attendees included Jitender Sharma, Chairperson of the Municipal Council, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Awasthi, CRC In-Charge, and various officials and councilors who contributed to the event’s success.
