Himachal Pradesh’s Future is Bright: CM Sukhu Emphasizes Commitment to Progress.
Kangra:
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu declared that the future of Himachal Pradesh lies with its people, emphasizing the need for sustainable development during the ‘Himachal Ki Awaaz’ event organized by a daily vernacular on Monday evening in Tanda. The CM highlighted the Congress government’s efforts over the past two years to implement meaningful policy changes aimed at uplifting the most marginalized sections of society.
Sukhu criticized the previous BJP administration for what he described as political appeasement that led to the depletion of state resources and poor educational outcomes, ranking Himachal 21st in the nation for education quality. He cited alarming health statistics, noting that the state now has the second-highest cancer rate in India, just behind the Northeast.
In response, the current government is making strides to improve healthcare, electricity, and water quality, including the recruitment of over 900 nurses and doctors. The CM also detailed initiatives for vulnerable groups, including the adoption of 6,000 orphaned children as “Children of the State” and the establishment of the Sukhashray Kosh, which has garnered Rs. 110 crore in donations for orphans. Furthermore, the government is providing free education to 23,000 children of widows and launching an anti-drug campaign alongside a new rehabilitation center in Sirmaur.
Sukhu reaffirmed his commitment to protect the state’s natural resources, asserting that if SJVNL fails to meet state terms, the government will reclaim three projects, including the Shanan Project from Punjab.
The event was attended by prominent government officials and community leaders, reinforcing the government’s dedication to fostering local talent and cultural heritage.
