Mass Cleanliness Drive Launched in Kelong Panchayat of Lahaul and Spiti.

Kelong Panchayat, in collaboration with the district administration and various officials, successfully conducted a special mass cleanliness drive on Saturday. The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar, who led the efforts alongside the local community and organizations.

The cleanliness campaign targeted key areas including the Lower Kelong Regional Hospital, Upper Kelong Old Circuit House, Old Bus Stand Barchi, and Billing Ground. Teams were formed to manage the drive, with participation from the Upper Kelong Women’s Mandal, Lower Kelong Women’s Mandal, Billing Women’s Mandal, Youth Mandal, Self-Help Groups, Business Associations, various departments, and local residents.

During the event, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar emphasized the importance of collective efforts to maintain cleanliness in the region and expressed gratitude to everyone involved.

Kelong Panchayat President Sonam Jangpo stated that the initiative was a success due to the support of all participants. The drive not only focused on collecting waste but also aimed at raising awareness among the community. He added that strict measures will be taken in collaboration with the administration to improve cleanliness in the Panchayat area.

He further stressed that if everyone commits to maintaining cleanliness in their respective Panchayats, the district of Lahaul-Spiti can remain clean. The event was coordinated by District Council Member Kunga Bodh, Panchayat Secretary Pooja, GRS Poonam, Ward Panchs, YDA Garsha, and Lahaul NGO member Tenzin Bodh.

District administration officials, including SDM Rajneesh Sharma, AC to DC Sankalp Gautam, BDO Vivek Guleria, Tehsildar Ramesh Rana, DPO Sachin Thakur, and CMO Roshan Lal, were also present to support the initiative.
