Vallabh Government College NCC Cadets Commissioned as Lieutenants in the Indian Army.

Senior Under Officer Pankaj Kumar and Cadet Warrant Officer Vinay Thakur from the NCC Air Wing of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, have been commissioned as Lieutenants in the Indian Army after successfully completing their military training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai and participating in the Passing Out Parade.

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman shared that Lieutenant Pankaj Kumar and Lieutenant Vinay Thakur are former students of Vallabh Government College and cadets of the Himachal Pradesh Air Squadron NCC.

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman stated that Lieutenant Vinay Thakur hails from Bijani village near Mandi. His childhood was spent in Goa, where his father worked as a restaurant manager. Later, he returned to Mandi for higher education.

His mother, Desh Kumari, shared that Vinay lost his father, the late Surendra Kumar, at a young age, leaving him with significant family responsibilities. Despite these hardships, he worked tirelessly, took on multiple jobs after graduation, and continued preparing for a career in defense.

Through immense dedication and perseverance, Vinay Thakur was selected for the Indian Army. After completing his rigorous training at OTA Chennai, he has now been commissioned as an officer, fulfilling his lifelong dream.

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman further stated that Lieutenant Vinay Thakur will serve in the Military Intelligence branch of the Indian Army. His sister, Nikita Thakur, was also a cadet in the NCC Air Wing at Vallabh Government College, Mandi.

Expressing his gratitude, Lieutenant Vinay Thakur said,
“With hard work and the blessings of my parents and mentors, I have achieved my goal.”

He credited his success to the guidance of Associate NCC Officer and Flight Commander, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman, who played a crucial role in training and motivating him throughout his journey.

Former Senior Under Officer Pankaj Kumar, an alumnus of Vallabh Government College’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and NCC Air Wing, Mandi, has also been commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army after passing out from OTA Chennai.

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman shared that Lieutenant Pankaj Kumar will serve in the Guards Regiment of the Indian Army. He hails from the Kortmoras Dhooma Devi region near Mandi. His father, Diwan Thakur, is a social worker, farmer, and horticulturist.

Lieutenant Pankaj Kumar expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Flying Officer Dr. Chaman, stating that his mentorship and blessings played a pivotal role in helping him achieve his dream of becoming a Lieutenant. He also acknowledged the immense support of his parents and teachers in shaping his journey.

The commissioning of both NCC cadets as Lieutenants in the Indian Army has brought immense pride and joy to the NCC Air Squadron and Vallabh Government College, Mandi.
