ABVP Submits Memorandum to Sardar Patel University, Urges Action on Key Student Demands.
Shimla:
In a meeting of the Executive Council at Sardar Patel University, Mandi, held yesterday, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) presented a memorandum outlining several critical demands on behalf of the student body.
The ABVP activists called for the reinstatement of the university’s jurisdiction and demanded the reversal of a recent decision to transfer the Sardar Patel University building in Sundernagar to a private college. They urged the Executive Council to take immediate action to address these issues.
Vishal Thakur, ABVP leader, highlighted the urgency of completing the land transfer process for the university and called for the introduction of new academic courses. Additionally, he demanded the permanent appointment of teaching and non-teaching staff. Thakur warned that failure to act promptly would lead the ABVP to intensify their protest.
Chirag Thakur, another ABVP activist, emphasized the need for scholarships for research scholars and the expansion of the university’s jurisdiction. He also warned of large-scale protests if the demands were not swiftly addressed.
In response, Dharampur MLA Chander Shekhar assured the students that their concerns would be taken seriously. He promised to raise the issues with the relevant authorities and reiterated his commitment to ensuring the welfare of the student community.
