The four-day Ice Hockey Cup competition, held in Kaza, the remote tribal town of Lahaul-Spiti, concluded successfully with an award ceremony led by Executive Additional Deputy Commissioner Shikha on Friday. The event saw the presence of special guests, including Abhay Dogra and Shinzoy from Royal Enfield, who added to the festive atmosphere.

Shikha, while addressing the gathering, congratulated the participants and the audience for their support. She expressed her happiness that the Ice Hockey Cup competition had returned to Kaza for the second consecutive year. Highlighting the importance of participation in sports, Shikha noted that while winning and losing are part of any competition, the true achievement lies in the opportunity to compete. She emphasized that such events not only provide a platform for children and young athletes to display their talent but also offer them an avenue to progress in their sporting careers.

She encouraged the athletes by saying that some of them might go on to participate in prestigious events like the Khelo India Games, national championships, or even the Olympics in the future, bringing pride to their villages, districts, and state. She assured that the administration would continue to provide full support to winter sports and other such competitions in the future.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner expressed her gratitude to the Ice Hockey Cup Association and Royal Enfield for their vital role in the successful organization of the event. She also praised the efforts of the organizing committee for their hard work in making the competition a success.

The competition concluded with the following results:

In the Boys’ category, Sham Zone emerged as the winners, while Center Zone secured the runners-up position.
In the Girls’ category, Center Zone claimed victory, with Tod Zone taking second place.
In the Boys’ Under-18 category, Tod Zone won, with Center Zone finishing as runners-up.

As part of the ceremony, Shikha awarded medals and certificates to the winners, runners-up, and all the participants. She also honored the main coach of Spiti, Amit Belwal, and all the coaches with mementos for their contributions to the success of the event.

The Chief Guest was presented with a statue of Manjushri and a Khatak as a token of appreciation by the Ice Hockey Association of Lahaul-Spiti and Royal Enfield.

The event was attended by BMO Brijesh, SDO Piyush from the Electricity Department, Sonam Dhakpa, members of the Ice Hockey Association including Sakaljang Dorje and Sanjeevan Rai, and other officials from various departments.
