Strengthening UK-Himachal Pradesh Ties: British Deputy High Commission Delegation Meets CM Sukhu.

A high-level delegation from the British Deputy High Commission, led by Deputy High Commissioner Caroline Rowett, met with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in Chandigarh today to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation between the United Kingdom and Himachal Pradesh.
The meeting, which included Rajinder S. Nagarkoti, Political, Press, and Projects Adviser for the UK Government, centered around potential collaborations spanning several sectors, aimed at fostering mutual growth and development.
During the discussions, Chief Minister Sukhu expressed a keen interest in partnering with the UK in areas such as AgriTech, green hydrogen, electric vehicles, tourism, dairy farming, food processing, data storage, and water resource management. He underlined the importance of leveraging the UK’s technological expertise in these sectors to bring about sustainable progress for Himachal Pradesh.
The Chief Minister directed relevant officers to facilitate follow-up meetings with the UK delegation, ensuring that the potential collaborations are carefully explored and brought to fruition.
A key focus of the talks was the export of Himachal Pradesh’s prized turmeric to the UK. Sukhu highlighted his government’s strong commitment to boosting exports and facilitating trade, particularly in agricultural products, which could benefit from the UK’s demand for quality produce.
Caroline Rowett took the opportunity to highlight existing UK investments in Himachal Pradesh, including an agro-industry venture in Kullu and the establishment of an Indian operation by a Scottish distillery in the state.
This meeting marks a pivotal step in strengthening UK-Himachal Pradesh relations, laying the groundwork for future cooperation and exchange across multiple sectors that hold immense potential for both regions.
