International Women’s Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm at Bhuttico Hall in Kullu.

Shimla:
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, celebrations were held with great enthusiasm and joy at the Bhuttico auditorium in Bhuttico colony in Kullu district on Saturday. The event was graced by Premlata Thakur, Director of Kangra Central Cooperative Bank and former District Council member, along with other distinguished guests.
In her address, the chief guest, Premlata Thakur, called upon all women present to become self-reliant and walk shoulder to shoulder with men in every sphere of society. She highlighted how the empowerment of women is clearly visible today through role models like scientists Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams, as well as in the political landscape.
She emphasized that women were once considered weaker than men, and were deprived of education. However, it was the first female Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, who made education mandatory and provided free education to girls. As a result, women today excel in every field of society.
The occasion also witnessed the presence of the event’s chairperson and former Minister of State, Satya Prakash Thakur, who particularly praised the contributions of women and encouraged them to move forward in all sectors. He commended the efforts of women and pointed out that today, India has a female President and has also been led by a female Prime Minister in the past. He further noted that women are now working side by side with men in diverse fields such as the Navy, Police, Science, and Technology.
The Bhuttico Management Board has also ensured that women have been given an appropriate place, with more women than men in most roles, including officials, employees, and weavers.
The event featured cultural performances by women, including singing by Fula Devi, Nirmala Devi, Shakuntala Devi, and Raksha Devi, as well as a traditional ‘Nati’ dance. Women weavers like Dali Devi, Shanti Devi, and Shashi Thakur were honored for their outstanding contributions. The event was skillfully managed by Shalini Mahant, who served as the MC.
In addition to the guest speakers, the celebration was further graced by the presence of board members and employees, including Nirmala Devi, Kala Devi, Indira Devi, Chief Manager Surti Devi, Manager Kavita Thakur, Neena Thakur, and Veena Thakur, along with hundreds of female employees and weavers, making the event even more vibrant.
This lively celebration underscored the growing recognition and appreciation of women’s contributions in all spheres of life, reinforcing the importance of gender equality and empowerment in today’s society.
