Celebrating Women’s Empowerment: Ravindra Nath Tagore College Sarkaghat Mandi Observes International Women’s Day.

Ravindra Nath Tagore College Sarkaghat in Mandi district organized a grand celebration on the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8, 2025). The event was held annually to honor and raise awareness about women’s rights and empowerment. This year’s theme, “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment,” emphasized taking swift action for the betterment of women’s lives.

The college’s Women’s Complaints & Redressal Cell organized the event, with the Chief Guest being Dr. Rikhi Ram Kondal, the Principal of the college. The program began with the lighting of a lamp by the Chief Guest, followed by insightful addresses from various dignitaries. Prof. Naresh Chandel, the Vice-Principal, was also present for the event.

The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. Rekha, with Prof. Manju, Prof. Ashok, Prof. Anju, Prof. Archana, Prof. Kavita, Prof. Monica, Prof. Shabnam, Prof. Aarti, Prof. Banita, Prof. Surabhi, Prof. Sunita, Prof. Preeti, Prof. Leelawati, Prof. Reena, Prof. Rita, Prof. Lata, and Prof. Preeti also playing active roles in the program’s execution.

During his speech, the Principal encouraged the audience to respect and honor women, recognizing their significant contributions to society. He also emphasized the importance of gender equality, raising awareness about domestic violence, utilizing the “Shakti” app for women’s safety, active participation in Panchayats, contributing to the economic development of women, and staying informed about women’s rights.

Other faculty members, including Prof. Pushpendra, Prof. Pankaj, Prof. Sunil, Prof. Subhash, Prof. Vinod, Prof. Rajesh, Prof. Malvinder, Prof. Vishal, Prof. Sunil, Prof. Rakesh, Prof. Sushil, Prof. Ishaan, Prof. Arun, Prof. Naveen, Prof. Santosh, Prof. Sudhir Saklani, Prof. Sunil Rao, Prof. Santosh, Prof. Dinesh, Prof. Sushil, and Prof. Sudhir Negi, also attended the event.

The event featured various competitions, including a speech contest, painting competition, and slogan-writing contest. Students from the music department also performed cultural presentations. The judging panel for the slogan-writing and painting competitions included Prof. Manju, Prof. Shabnam, Prof. Preeti, and Prof. Archana, while Prof. Monica, Prof. Rita, Prof. Nikita Chaudhary, and Prof. Suman Lata judged the speech competition.

The program concluded with a PowerPoint presentation by Riya and Anamika, highlighting the significant contributions of women. The event ended with the singing of the National Anthem, leaving everyone with a sense of pride and inspiration.
