Varanasi:

In a landmark move to revolutionize India’s logistics infrastructure, the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) and the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a state-of-the-art Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The agreement was signed today in the presence of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal.

The new logistics park, spanning 150 acres, is strategically located to enhance connectivity and trade efficiency. It will be directly accessible from National Highway 7 (NH7) through a 650-meter access road and is only 1.5 kilometers away from the crucial NH7-NH2 junction. This location is pivotal for boosting logistical operations in the region and beyond.

The MMLP will integrate seamlessly with major transport networks, including a 5.1 km railway line linking it to the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor at Jeonathpur Station. It will also be connected to National Waterway-1, facilitating the movement of goods via water transport. Furthermore, the park is conveniently located just 30 kilometers from Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport, providing enhanced connectivity for air freight.

This project is expected to make a significant impact on India’s logistics sector by creating substantial investment and employment opportunities. It will play a key role in driving economic growth by improving trade efficiency and strengthening India’s position as a global economic powerhouse.

The establishment of this Multi-Modal Logistics Park highlights the Indian government’s ongoing commitment to improving its infrastructure and transforming its logistics sector, aligning with the broader goals of boosting trade, economic growth, and connectivity across the nation.
