BRO Begins Snow Clearance on Koksar Road, Providing Much-Needed Relief to Local Residents.
Shimla:
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has initiated snow clearance operations on the vital road connecting Koksar panchayat to the North portal of the Atal Tunnel, situated on the Manali-Leh highway in the Lahaul-Spiti district. This long-awaited development has been warmly welcomed by the local residents, who have faced significant challenges due to the road blockage caused by heavy snowfall in the region.
The road leading to Koksar, a key link between the village and other parts of the region, had been closed for several weeks, isolating the community and creating major logistical challenges. The blockage had severely disrupted the transportation of goods and services, impacting the daily lives of the residents in Koksar and its neighboring villages, including Kuthbihal, Dimpuk, Ramthang, and Koksar itself.
With snow clearance operations now underway, the residents of Koksar are optimistic that normal access will soon be restored. This will not only alleviate the difficulties caused by the road closure but also facilitate the smoother transportation of essential supplies and services, thus improving overall connectivity.
Sachin Mirupa, the Pradhan (head) of Koksar Gram Panchayat, expressed his gratitude for the prompt action taken by the BRO. He highlighted the crucial role the road plays in providing vital connectivity to the rest of the region. “This road is indispensable for the local community as it ensures access to goods, medical services, and other necessities. The restoration of this road will significantly improve the quality of life for the people of Koksar and its surrounding areas,” Mirupa stated.
Residents of Koksar are hopeful that with the snow clearance in progress, the road will soon be fully operational, restoring essential access to the remote region. This effort by the BRO is seen as a crucial step in alleviating the everyday challenges faced by the community and ensuring that they are better connected to the outside world.
As the snow clearance continues, it is expected that the road will be fully open soon, allowing for smoother and more efficient travel along the Manali-Leh highway. This will undoubtedly have a positive impact on both the local residents and the broader region, further enhancing the accessibility of this remote part of Lahaul-Spiti.
