Alappuzha, Kerala:
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, while attending the 42nd Akhil Bharata Shrimad Bhagavata Maha Sathram at the Sri Bhagavathy Temple in Alappuzha, Kerala, emphasized the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavata Purana and its enduring relevance for humanity. The CM highlighted the ancient text’s teachings on righteousness, devotion, and selfless service, asserting that “true happiness comes from surrendering to the divine and embracing a life of virtue.”
Praising the Maha Sathram as a powerful reminder of India’s rich spiritual heritage, CM Sukhu also commended the Gopika Sangam, a remarkable initiative involving 16,008 gopikas and children, which showcases the pure and unconditional love central to Bhakti. He extended his gratitude to the organizers for preserving and promoting these sacred traditions, ensuring that future generations remain connected to their spiritual roots.
Referring to Kerala as a beacon of spirituality, the Chief Minister noted the deep intertwining of devotion and culture in the region. “Such gatherings are vital in uniting people from different states and communities through shared faith,” he remarked. He also praised Himachal Pradesh for its own spiritual and cultural richness, calling it “Devbhoomi” — a land of sacred Shakti Peeths, ancient temples, and serene spiritual sites.
Highlighting the efforts of the Himachal Pradesh government to enhance the pilgrimage experience, CM Sukhu shared plans to connect hilly temples via ropeways and an e-connectivity project that will allow devotees to book religious ceremonies online. With a vibrant calendar of religious and cultural fairs, Himachal Pradesh continues to attract tourists and devotees from across the globe, further showcasing its spiritual significance.
