PM Modi Announces WAVES Summit to Empower Indian Artists on the Global Stage.
New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighted that the first-ever World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) will empower Indian artists to create content that resonates globally. Speaking at the Rising Bharat Summit organized by a private news channel, Modi emphasized that the summit would not only provide a platform for Indian creators but also invite international artists to collaborate in India, enhancing the global presence of Indian art and culture.
Scheduled to be held in Mumbai from May 1-4, WAVES is set to become a major global platform celebrating and encouraging the diverse fields of entertainment. Modi recognized the immense potential of the entertainment industry, which he said is one of the largest and fastest-growing sectors worldwide.
The Prime Minister also spoke about India’s dynamic creative industries, such as film, podcasts, gaming, music, and emerging technologies like AR and VR, stressing that initiatives like “Create in India” aim to elevate these sectors to new heights.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also outlined that WAVES will focus on nurturing talent through 31 “Create in India” challenges, which have already shortlisted over 400 creators from various fields, including gaming, music, comics, animation, visual effects, and broadcasting. The goal is to transform these creators’ ideas into market-ready products while safeguarding their intellectual property rights.
The summit is expected to showcase the work of more than 725 creators, highlighting India’s growing influence in the global entertainment landscape.
