Ex-Servicemen Demand Stern Action Against Pakistan Over Pahalgam Terror Attack.

Shimla:

The United Front of Ex-Servicemen (JCOs & OR), Himachal Pradesh, led by Captain Jagdish Verma (Retd), has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and has called for strict and decisive action against Pakistan.

In a show of protest and patriotism, the group submitted a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu through the Tehsildar at Baldwara, Mandi, demanding immediate and firm action in response to the April 22 attack, which they attributed to Pakistan-trained terrorists.

Captain Verma described the attack on innocent tourists as “highly condemnable and unfortunate,” accusing Pakistan of continuing to harbour and promote terrorism while simultaneously enjoying the benefits of the Indus Water Treaty, which grants it access to over 80% of shared river waters since 1960.

Referring to the 2019 Pulwama terror attack and ongoing cross-border provocations, Verma urged the government to go beyond diplomatic gestures such as border closures and visa suspensions. “These steps are too mild,” he said, adding that Pakistan had even refused to take back the bodies of its soldiers after the 1999 Kargil War.

The Ex-Servicemen highlighted India’s growing stature on the global stage and questioned its effectiveness in safeguarding its own people against repeated terror strikes. A protest march was held in Baldwara to express their anger and determination, with participants demanding a firm and final strategy to eliminate terrorism.

The memorandum submitted echoes a rising sentiment among veterans and citizens alike—that time has come for stronger, more resolute action.
