DAV College Management Committee Organizes Prestigious Event at Chaugan Maidan.
Hamirpur:
In a grand tribute to one of India’s most revered educationists, Mahatma Hansraj, the “Samarpan Diwas” was celebrated with deep reverence and enthusiasm on April 26, 2025, at the historic Chaugan Maidan in Sujanpur Tihra in Hamirpur. The event was organized by the DAV College Management Committee, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha.
The occasion, marking the birth anniversary of Mahatma Hansraj, held immense significance for the DAV community and the broader educational fraternity. The celebrations were attended by a large gathering of students, teachers, dignitaries, and education enthusiasts from across the country.
Mahatma Hansraj, the first headmaster of Dayanand High School, Lahore, in 1886, had offered his services without any remuneration, setting an unparalleled example of dedication to the cause of education. A devoted follower of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, he played a pivotal role in shaping the DAV movement that continues to illuminate the path of countless learners across India.
Under the spiritual and reformist guidance of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, the Arya Samaj movement gave rise to the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic (DAV) institutions, which remain committed to the mission of eradicating illiteracy and reviving Vedic values. Mahatma Hansraj’s vision and tireless work made him a beacon of social reform and a pillar of modern Indian education.
This year, the honour of hosting the event was conferred upon DAV Centenary Public School, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. The school, under the leadership of Principal and Assistant Regional Officer (ARO) K. S. Guleria, showcased the spirit of commitment and excellence synonymous with DAV institutions.
The programme was graced by the presence of Arya Ratna Dr. Punam Suri, President of the Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha and the DAV College Management Committee. A recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri Award, Dr. Suri presided over the event and inspired the audience with his spiritual and motivational address.
One of the key highlights of the celebration was the special felicitation of three distinguished educationists for their exceptional services in the field of education and social welfare:
Dr. Vikramjeet Singh, Principal, Dayanand College, Hisar (Haryana)
K. S. Guleria, Principal-cum-ARO, DAV Centenary Public School, Mandi (Himachal Pradesh)
Seema Maindiratta, Principal-cum-ARO, DAV International School, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra)
Their recognition underscored the DAV Management’s commitment to acknowledging selfless service and excellence in the educational realm.
The event concluded with a spiritually uplifting recitation of the Shanti Path, invoking peace and harmony, and leaving a lasting impact on the hearts of all present.
“Samarpan Diwas” continues to serve as a powerful reminder of the ideals of sacrifice, service, and knowledge as envisioned by Mahatma Hansraj and Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, reinforcing DAV’s legacy as a cornerstone of Indian education.
