Five Distinguished Personalities from Himachal Selected for Thakur Ved Ram Memorial Awards 2024.

The Thakur Ved Ram Memorial Award, instituted in memory of the legendary cooperative leader Thakur Ved Ram, will this year honor five prominent personalities from Himachal Pradesh for their outstanding contributions in various fields including journalism, sports, folk culture, and social service. The award ceremony will be held on May 8 at the Bhuttico Auditorium in Kullu, coinciding with the birthday celebration of former minister and cooperative icon Satya Prakash Thakur.
The Award Selection Committee, chaired by Ramesh Thakur, officially announced the names of the awardees, recognizing their exemplary service and achievements in their respective domains.
Awardees for 2024:
1. Advocate Chhavinder Thakur – Print Media
A senior journalist, writer, and lawyer from Manali, Chhavinder Thakur has been selected for his remarkable contribution to print journalism. With bylines in both Hindi and English newspapers, he continues to make an impact as a freelance writer alongside his legal practice.
2. Ranvir Singh Thakur – Electronic Media
A dynamic journalist from Shimla and the State Special Reporter for News18, Ranvir Thakur will receive the award for excellence in electronic media. His sharp reporting and impactful journalism have earned him statewide recognition.
3. Neeta Rana – Emerging Talent (New Flight Award)
A rising star from the Kharahal valley of Kullu, international Kho-Kho player Neeta Rana has brought glory to the nation by securing a gold medal in an international kho-kho championship. A key player of the world champion Indian team, she represents the spirit of sporting excellence.
4. Leela Thakur – Folk Culture
A renowned folk singer from the Seraj valley, Leela Thakur will be honored for her contribution to preserving Himachal’s traditional music. Through her soulful renditions of local songs, she continues to keep the region’s rich cultural heritage alive.
5. Nisha Thakur – Social Upliftment
A trained B.Sc. Nursing professional from Sainj valley, Nisha Thakur has been selflessly educating underprivileged children in slum areas for the past seven years. Providing door-to-door education to marginalized kids, she has emerged as a beacon of hope for many deprived families.

The Thakur Ved Ram Memorial Awards are presented annually by the Thakur Ved Ram Memorial Social, Cultural, Welfare & Environment Society, based in Bhutti Colony, Kullu. Since 2010, the awards have recognized individuals across Himachal Pradesh who are making significant contributions to society in diverse fields.
This year’s award ceremony promises to be a grand affair, celebrating both Satya Prakash Thakur’s birthday and the spirit of service and excellence embodied by the award recipients.
