In a major stride towards responsive and citizen-centric governance, the State Government’s ambitious initiative to redress public grievances through Revenue Lok Adalats has achieved notable success. From October 2023 to March 2025, an impressive total of 3,25,926 pending revenue cases have been successfully resolved, marking a new chapter in the state’s administrative reform.

A government spokesperson highlighted that the resolved cases include 2,75,004 mutation cases, 16,258 partition cases, 27,404 demarcation cases, and 7,260 correction cases. This initiative is hailed as the first-ever comprehensive campaign in the State’s history specifically aimed at resolving revenue-related matters through organized Lok Adalats at grassroots levels.

The spokesperson emphasized the transformative impact of this initiative in alleviating the burden on ordinary citizens. “Revenue Lok Adalats have significantly reduced the need for people to make repeated visits to government offices for routine matters,” he stated. “This citizen-first model has brought about much-needed efficiency and convenience in revenue services.”

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has been a driving force behind this reform, consistently advocating for the use of digital platforms to deliver public services. Revenue officers have been directed to adopt digital tools and streamline workflows, enabling citizens to access vital services online. This move aligns with the Government’s broader vision of a transparent, accountable, and technologically empowered governance system.

The first Revenue Lok Adalat was held in October 2023, and following its success, the model has been institutionalized as a regular mechanism for the disposal of pending revenue cases. These Lok Adalats are now being held routinely at tehsil and sub-tehsil levels, ensuring greater accessibility and faster resolution of cases.

The government spokesperson concluded by stating, “The overwhelming response to Revenue Lok Adalats reaffirms our commitment to making governance more efficient, participatory, and inclusive.”

This initiative not only demonstrates administrative innovation but also sets a precedent for citizen engagement and grassroots-level dispute resolution in public service delivery.
