In a major move to bolster employment and enhance administrative efficiency, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, approved the Pashu Mitra Policy-2025 during its meeting held today. The policy aims to strengthen the Animal Husbandry Department with the recruitment of 1,000 Multi-Task Workers (Pashu Mitras) across the state.

In a series of decisions that reflect the state government’s commitment to development and welfare, the Cabinet also approved the filling of 100 posts of Junior Office Assistant (Library) in the Education Department to ensure smooth operations of school libraries.

The Revenue Department will also see an increase in workforce, with the creation of 10 posts of Senior Assistant and 15 posts of Junior Office Assistant (IT), while five posts in the H.P. State Transport Appellate Tribunal, Hamirpur, will be filled to improve efficiency.

Further strengthening healthcare services under Ayush, the Cabinet approved the batch-wise recruitment of five Ayurvedic Pharmacy Officers. In a relief to cow shelters, the fodder grant for Gauvansh kept in Gausadans has been increased from Rs. 700 to Rs. 1200 per cattle per month.

Significant enhancements were also made in the honorarium of medical support staff. Operation Theatre Assistants’ pay was increased from Rs. 17,820 to Rs. 25,000, while Radiographers and X-Ray Technicians will now receive Rs. 25,000, up from Rs. 13,100 per month.

Environmental and urban planning saw a push as the Cabinet greenlit the Mukhya Mantri Green Adoption Yojna, aimed at plantation on degraded forest land through CSR initiatives. In a bid to protect the scenic beauty of Shimla, amendments to the Himachal Pradesh Town and Country Planning Rules, 2014 were also approved, mandating that valley-side constructions in the Shimla Municipal Corporation be built at least one meter below road level.

To ensure sustainable development near religious and forested zones, the adjoining forest area of Mata Tara Devi Temple in Shimla has been brought under the green zone of the Shimla Development Plan.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved comprehensive guidelines for hiring e-taxis under the Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-Up Yojna-2023, and gave its nod to merge the design wing with the civil wing of the H.P. Public Works Department to improve operational coherence.

Lastly, in a nod to local identity, the veterinary dispensary at Sarahan has been renamed as Veterinary Dispensary Baga Sarahan in the Nirmand development block of Kullu district.

These wide-ranging decisions reflect the government’s intent to advance infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and public service efficiency across Himachal Pradesh.
